Dr. Nadeem Iqbal is a Fulbright Scholar at St. John’s University, New York, USA. He received his Ph.D. in the field of Computer Science from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Leeds UK. He’s also an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science AWKUM, Pakistan.  Dr. Iqbal has achieved the status of Associate Fellow (AFHEA) in recognition of attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in higher education.  He had been the recipient of various prestigious scholarships/fellowships. He was the recipient of the Fulbright Fellowship.

His current research efforts focus on addressing early detection of Parkinson’s and elderly patient fall detection using human gait analysis system based on wearable sensors. At St. John’s University, he also works with the NSF grant project related to work on biomedical content authoring and structured publishing healthcare Informatics.

With the university of Leeds research team, He investigated the development of a control system for recognizing human activities such as walking, steps and ramp ascending and descending utilizing neuromechanical sensors. The investigation was carried out on both able-bodied people and amputees with lower limb amputations. The findings support the development of smart neural-controlled lower limb prosthetics in the future and improve the quality of life for people who use a prosthetic limb.

His research has been published in IEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, IEEE Sensor Journal, IEEE ACCESS, Elsevier BioCybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, Elsevier Computer methods and programs in biomedicine, Elsevier Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems and Springer Journal of Grid Computing are few to mention. He has been guest editor of numerous special issues in various prestigious journals. He is a senior member of IEEE.
